More on the VW Nationals

Image
I had to take a quick snap of Dylan this morning before we left for the Show.  Comparing today's photo to the one I took of him after the VW Nationals last year, it's hard to comprehend how much has happened and how he has changed. For some reason this year my hubby was really interested in the cars that were for sale.  Not necessarily show quality cars, and not complete "project" cars either.  Don't know why though. We don't have the room for another car and he wouldn't pay for another project either.  And none of our cars are earmarked as for sale... I think he's just dreaming! I could totally see myself in this... Its a wagon, so heaps of room in the back for kid stuff. Sure it might not be able to get over a speedhump in the shopping centre car park, but that's irrelevant! For our next Kombi, I want this. And if I can't have this, then I'll have... This... Love those vintage eskies! So many pretty ones all in a ro

Week 21 So today was our car club annual Show day.  My hubby set off last night to help set it all up, then was back out there again at sparrow's fart this morning.  Me?? I stayed in bed til a more leisurely 8am.  Dylan woke up another half an hour or so later, which allowed me enough time to get my shit together.  Somehow we still didn't get out the door til around 10.  Why does it take so frickin long to get out of the house these days?!?! We rocked up to the Show and had a wander around until we met up with hubby.  Lots of nice cars. Lots of projects... Such a shame our garage is full up!! Dylan loved seeing all the cars just like Daddy's. Maybe next year he'll appreciate it all a bit more.  He was so well behaved, just sitting there in the pram until lunch time when he had a run around out the back of the car show area on a big grassy area.  The one time we had him out of the pram near the cars he decided to try to use his baby wipe to "clean" the ne

Here's the latest!

I was feeling guilty about not posting anything during the week.  It was a busy one, and by the time the day is done, Dylan is down to sleep for the night, all I want to do is curl up in front of the tv or go to bed.  That does NOT make for an exciting post.  So I read on another blog a quick way of keeping up some form of post about what's happening.  So here it is! Making :  A mess usually... Cooking : Mini cupcake sized quiches for Dylan and bigger, but individual ones for hubby and I.  Just need some variations on the filling! Drinking :  Cups of tea.... or a nice glass of lemonade and a slice of lime Reading: My notes from work.  Gotta present some topics at our work conference in a week or so. Eeeek! Wanting:  Summer weather to come back! Looking:  For a pair of skinny jeans to wear with my boots.  I DO NOT usually do skinny jeans. Playing: With Dylan's cars and trucks and blocks on the floor Wasting: Zucchini's... They are always dead by the time I go

Week 20 Dylan got to play with his cousin Charlie today.  They ran around and chased each other. Charlie, being 6 months older than Dylan was probably a whole lot faster at running and doing the catching, but Dylan still squealed with delight!  He fell asleep shortly after we left, and slept almost the entire 1.5 hour drive home, only waking 2 minutes away from our place.  So there was no way he'd go back down for his proper nap.  We had to try and tire him out for his afternoon sleep so we've been playing with a ball, his walker and anything interesting we could find in the garden.  Right before he decided to stick his hands in the dirty bird bath water he was looking just so sweet and angelic I got this shot.  He's loving his beanie right now - even on these strangely warm autumn days! Week 19 Happy Mother's Day to all the mums! I think I scored a jackpot! Not only did we get sleep-ins both days last weekend, but we got sleep-ins both days this weekend too!! What the hell is going on?? How did Dylan suddenly realise that sleeping til a more civilised hour on the weekends is a wonderful thing? So one of my few wishes for Mothers Day was granted, a sleep in, and god it felt good!  We had a lazy-ish morning, a decent coffee, happy days. Dylan made me a beautiful painting at Daycare and it meant the world to me. I got to spend the day with my lovely mum who came for lunch. Good food, good company. and a cocktail to boot!  What a great day.  Dylan was thrilled to see Grandma's iPad  mini most of all!  He pushes the button, he swipes the screen, Siri talks to him and he giggles.  Toddler tantrums galore if you try to take it off him! Shortcuts

Image
Normally I'm all for shortcuts. Anything to make the job a bit easier, a bit faster. When we renovated a couple of years ago there was no way my hubby would take any shortcuts. Everything was done once, and done properly.  Our next door neighbours have just started a renovation on their place. First off a new laundry and then on to a second storey on the back half of their house.  The new laundry is being created by sectioning off an area of their living room, adding a door, tiling the walls, and hey presto! It's a laundry! Something tells me they just couldn't be bothered finishing the window area... Just an easy shortcut and call the job done! Yes, you're not seeing things! That's a large frame hanging over the window. Complete with hanging string and price tag on the back! Bel

Week 18 So this week, and really for the past few weeks we've all been on the cold/flu merry-go-round.  Dylan brings home a cough, a runny nose etc from daycare and I inevitably catch it. By the time I'm starting to recover, Dylan catches it again, and eventually hubby catches it, worst of all (apparently!!).  We just haven't been able to get a break and it's driving us nuts.  Somehow, after a period of not so great sleeps, thanks to Dylan's cold, this weekend we hit the jackpot!!  Sleep-ins. BOTH DAYS.  How freaking good is that??  We all snoozed until around 8:45am which is a miracle in this household!  Even after Dylan decided to wake up this morning he got pulled into our bed and snuggled up with his Daddy while I prepared his milk and breaky.  What a great start to the day!!
