Week 26 We've had a bit of a rough week with Dylan.  Sunday night he woke at 2am and didn't sleep a whole lot after that until about 6am.  Not even a dose of panadol worked.  He was tired but his slightly snotty nose seemed a bit better when it was time to get up and head off to daycare.  I got the call during my lunch break that he had a temperature of 39.2 and could I come collect him.  The carers said he was clingy, miserable and just not well.  By the time I picked him up his temperature was over 39.5 poor boy!  He needed a clearance from a doctor before daycare would accept him the following day, so I headed straight for the doctors.  There we discovered he had a middle ear infection.  So antibiotics were in order, and lots of sleep!  So in the 7 months since I've been back at work, I've taken my first ever day of carers leave to look after one sick and miserable weeny boy. He's been tired, clingy, whingy, a picky eater, with tantrums galore the entire week

Our trip to the beach

On Thursday this week my hubby had the day off work so we decided to head out for a bit of an adventure.  The day did not start particularly well as we took Dylan to the Doctors to get his needles.  I have not been able to do it on my own since Dylan was born so today was ideal.  I just can't stand the thought of him getting jabbed, and would cry myself if I was the only one there! Dylan ended up being so well behaved.  He said "bye" and waved to the Doctor, and then the receptionist as we left. Too cute! So we headed out for a bit of a drive and combined 2 of Dylan's favourite things... making a mess, and planes!!  It was such a lovely sunny winter's day there on the beach at Kurnell.  We basically had the whole beach to ourselves which was great, so Dylan couldn't get distracted and run off! We brought along his bucket and shovels so sandcastles were made... and smashed! Holes were dug, seashells were collected, and sand got into every nook and cranny!

Week 25 On Friday my weeny boy turned 18 months old! Where the hell has that time gone?  Other than the tantrums, we are so loving this age! Dylan just wants to play and have fun. After last weekend where Dylan had a blast at his cousin Charlie's 2nd birthday party, we decided he looked like he needed a new toy to keep him occupied.  Dylan had never seen or sat in one of those cozy coupe cars before, and at first he didn't seem to like it, but soon a smile crept across his face a mile wide.  So after test driving Charlie's car, we decided we'd get him one - although hubby was petrified of dents in the garage door!  Saturday morning we led Dylan out to the garage and wow was he surprised!!  I think I spent hours and hours pushing him up and down the driveway, around the cars under the carport, and we even went on a little jaunt down to the end of the street and back on the footpath.  It brought a smile to a few of the neighbours who saw him heading down the footpath.

Week 24 I need more weeks like this. It was a short working week due to the Long Weekend last weekend, but I made it even shorter by taking the day off on Tuesday.  Dylan went to daycare and I went out after a lazy breakfast and wandered around the shops.  As much fun as I thought shopping would be sans pram, I was over it pretty quick so headed home and did some baking instead.  My kitchen was soon overflowing with apple & sultana mini muffins and it was time to go pick up my weeny boy from daycare.  At least we got to have a lovely afternoon tea together sitting on the floor in the kitchen munching away. Yesterday we had Dylan's cousin Charlie's 2nd birthday party.  Dylan just loved playing on the ride-on cars and bikes with the other kiddies.  He was just that bit smaller and less confident than the rest of them, so I think he did plenty of just sitting back watching.  He had a massive sugar overdose on the birthday cake, fairy bread and other goodies, but you just c

It's been raining here overnight so the ground was wet and we had some puddles on the driveway. Perfect puddles for jumping in, stomping in, kicking water everywhere wearing gumboots!!   I had one of those awful 'getting older birthday thingies' over the weekend. I did score some fab prezzies including a pair of gumboots so I can join in the water fun with Dylan.   Hubby is away with work for a few days now so I've been trying to keep Dylan occupied with fun things to do. This morning we decided that it was definitely a gumboot wearing morning.  Dylan was having fun playing under the Camellia's until he grabbed a handful of dirt and leaves and promptly headed over to the carport and got the lid off our green gardening bin, where he dumped his handful of muck. And just like his Daddy (Mr Neat Freak) he began dragging the green gardening bin over to the lawn under the Camellias.  Here he began doing Daddy's clean up for him!! The leaves, twigs, and falle

Week 23 This past week has had its ups and downs.  There were a few nights where Dylan just would not stop screaming when we tried to put him to bed.  Nothing other than picking him up and taking him away from his cot would calm him.  It was quite upsetting on our part.  He's also gotten 2 new teeth this week with a 3rd about to poke through.  He's also pretty much decided that baby food is NOT to be consumed anymore.  Finger food and whatever is on our plates is what he MUST have.  His hand co-ordination and skills using his cutlery is improving dramatically.  Although a hell of a lot of his weetbix still gets shovelled in using his hands!  It makes for a fun but messy breakfast time!! Week 22 It feels like it was a long long time since I posted just last weekend.  I had my work conference down on the Great Ocean Road during the week which meant 3 days away.  I tucked my weeny boy into bed on Tuesday night and didn't see him again until Friday night. I've never spent a night away from him and boy it hurt! The conference kept me busy, so I didn't have time to fall in a heap and cry, but it doesn't mean I wasn't constantly thinking about him. When I did get home he had some big smiles and the best cuddles for me.  Love my little man so much!  So since Friday night I've been trying to spend quality time with him, doing fun things and keeping him entertained.  This morning we emptied out his little cart and put a few select toys in. He happily walked up and down the hallways pulling his little cart behind him.
