Week 35 We've had a fun afternoon just enjoying a bit of the sunshine after a trip to the park.  Dylan was quite content to play with his matchbox cars and ride his trike up and down the driveway.  We had a pitstop where Dylan guzzled his milk, I had my cuppa, and we shared a chunk of my nutella swirled banana bread made earlier in the week. Yum! A portrait of my son, once a week, every week in 2014 Goodbye winter. We won't miss you one teeny tiny bit! Joining in with Jodi and Project 52 . Bel

Week 34 Unfortunately things fell apart during the week.  I was hoping that we were all on the mend but it quickly became apparent that we weren't, and we went downhill quickly.  There's been more whinging and moaning and sleepless nights and day naps and the tissues... boxes and boxes of tissues.  It's just no fun.  When the sleepless nights turn into cranky days, you just lose your shit sometimes. You yell. You yell at anyone who's there. You say things I'm sure you wouldn't normally say if you were well.  And decisions, oh my god, why is it so friggin hard to make a decision??? Like what should we have for dinner? Or should I put that other load of washing on or will it piss down with rain?? This week I've really felt quite isolated.  On my own little sick island where nobody wants to go.  Some days you just wish you had that magic fairy that would come and get your shit done for you.  I've been so lethargic this week that makes it seem everything

Week 33 We're all still slowly on the mend here. I'm still mindful of the cold mornings and not enough layers on at times, but fingers crossed we will all stop coughing soon! Today we had a lovely day up at my Dad's place.  He had a birthday during the week so we got to go and celebrate with him, plus my brother's family.  Dylan had a blast playing with his cousin Charlie, even if they were a bit timid and shy of each other at first.  There was plenty of toy stealing going on, chasings, and lots of squeals of excitement.  They are just so fun to watch.  Dylan stood atop of the stairs waving as his cousin left to go home for nap time.  A photo of my son, once a week, every week in 2014 Joining in with Jodi and Project 52 . My little helper

Toddlers just like to help, and this help comes in many forms. Helping carry the pegs out to the clothesline, helping to spread the pegs all across the backyard. Helping to wipe his own snotty nose with a tissue, then taking said tissue and putting it in the bin, or just somewhere random for me to find later. Help can be really really good and useful, and it can be a downright pain in the butt.  Dylan has learnt so much lately and we try to make the most of these skills. When we get up in the mornings we go through our usual routine.  Now that the weather is horribly cold, Dylan loves to be one flicking on the switch and turns  on the gas fire.  If we are doing some washing, I can hand him the clothes and he will put them in the washing machine.  He loves to press the buttons to set the machine off, and he always claps his hands together all excited once it starts.  He's just as helpful when the load is done as he loves to pull the washing out of the washing machine and putting i

Photo catch up...

I've been a bit slack lately.  None of my photos have been using my good camera until today.  When I did finally download the photos onto the PC I realised I had quite a few shots going back 2 or 3 weeks. So I figured I'd do a brief catch up of some of the shots I've taken. Drawing time kept him entertained for a while. Until he preferred to get up on the table and muck around... Different day, same jumper! Trike riding with hubby. Until he tried to escape down the street! Dump trucks are totally meant for collecting pretty flowers... aren't they?? And he stops to smell the flowers! Bel

Week 32 Sometimes you've just gotta laugh.  This week has been one of those funny ones where if you don't laugh you'll cry.  We are still sick, and now hubby has caught the dreaded lurgy too.  I'm trying to get myself better with rest, as little stress as possible, keeping warm, and trying to eat a bit more healthily (not so successful with a massive packet of biscuits in the cupboard!).  I'm going to say I think it's working... a little bit.  I'm not waking myself up so much now, whereas before hubby thought he was sleeping next to a seal who liked barking all day and night. During the week we had a bit of a drama.  Hubby was home from work in the afternoon and Dylan was happily playing in the lounge room.  I decided to sneak outside and get the washing off the line.  In the 2 minutes I was out there Dylan decided to come looking for me.  He sees that he's been shut inside, and reaches up and flicks the lock on the glass sliding door.... Yep both h

Week 31 We've tried to make the most of the beautiful sunny weather today as best as we can with nasty colds all round.  We had some things to pick up this morning, and on our way home we thought we might stop off at the park so Dylan could have a ride of his trike. Just as we were getting close to the park I peeped over my shoulder to see him fast asleep. So the park was off! He was so sleepy as we got in the door that he didn't even make it to lunch.  Nearly 3 hours later he emerged bright eyed, hungry and ready for that trip to the park!  He loved doing laps of the walking track around the park. Lucky his little trike has a parent push handle cos he certainly got distracted by the woofy dogs, the kids on bikes and scooters, the joggers, the soccer players, and the balls being kicked left, right and centre.   A photo of my son, once a week, every week in 2014 We all had a great time at the park, and Dylan just didn't want to stop or get off his trike. Welcome to the sick house

Dylan has had a runny nose for over a month now. It just won't stop. Combined with another ear infection requiring more antibiotics, and a charming case of conjunctivitis, he's pretty miserable. And I don't blame him one bit! I managed to catch his cold about 2 weeks ago, and just when I was hoping I had the tail end of it, it's come back worse than ever. Head cold. Sinus pain. Body aches. Bleurghhh! The one good part of this sad story is that at least he's sleeping through the night and generally still having good solid day naps.  Well he WAS sleeping through the night until last night. He woke this morning at some ungodly hour having a bit of a cry, and again this morning when I was just getting up to head off to work. He cried a little, called out 'Mummy', and that was enough to make my heart melt! Usually his cries are babbling or the occasional word, but today, 'Mummy'.  Oh my poor darling boy! I'm sure I'll tire of being called out
