We had to go do some grocery shopping one day this week.  I was wearing a new-ish dress and could not for the life of me work out which shoes to wear with it. So Dylan takes the opportunity to choose some from my wardrobe and model them around the bedroom for me!  Such a funny little man!  He even got them on the right feet!   A portrait of my son, once a week, every week in 2015 Shoes were fun for a minute or two... then back to his trains of course!   Joining in with Jodi and Project 52 .   Bel

A last hurrah before..... twins!!

On one of my days off this week I ventured across Sydney to visit my dear friend Mel.  She's got a gorgeous 2 1/2 year old girl who Dylan went head to head with over the toys, and she's due in the next few weeks with twins.  Yep... twinnies!!  The last time we managed to catch up she was right on 20 weeks.  It sure shows how fast time flies! We also had another friend come for the catch up, who brought her 2 sweet little girls along.  Dylan was totally overrun with girls, but he didn't seem to mind, after all, there were trucks and diggers to play with! Now my friend Mel swears she doesn't know the genders of her twins, so I'm gonna put my guess in writing right here.  I say one boy and one girl!   I don't know if I've ever been right making uneducated guesses, but I don't quite know how the draino test is supposed to correctly guess one of each.  Yes the draino test!  The infallible, totally legit test where you mix pee and highly toxic draino

I went back to work this week and Dylan went back to daycare.  He's not in the Babies room anymore.  As I dropped him off on Monday morning my heart broke to leave him, just that little bit.  Just like his very first day of daycare last year, all over again.  He seems to be settling in to life with the bigger kids pretty well, but he has been transitioning to it by his carers for the last few months. Day 1 of life in the bigger kids room and he comes home having learnt all new things.  He kept pointing at his eyes, and saying "blue eyes", then "Daddy blue eyes", which is entirely true for both of them.  Mummy's green eyes were a little harder to say, and so often he decided to call them "purple" instead! He is certainly turning into a perceptive little man. Being back at daycare also means he gets picked up by hubby in the afternoons, and that means a ride in the "daddy car" which is lots of fun.  He loves hearing the "daddy car&

Over the past few weeks I've really noticed the short stretches where Dylan will go off and play on his own.  Most of the time I get dragged away to play cars, or trains, or blocks, and there is no escaping the requests.  Yes I know a quiet toddler is a suspicious toddler, and I generally expect some kind of destruction, damage or mess.  But this week I've found him quietly chatting to himself, arranging his cars, pushing his train along its track, or in this case, reading his books.  After a few bits of furniture were rearranged this week, we decided to move all his books into his room.  He happily plonked himself down and picked out 3 or 4 of the "Hairy Maclary" books which he flicked through as only a 2 year will do! Such peaceful times.  The afternoon sunshine was streaming in his window.  Love the way he's sitting too.  I just wanted to reach out and tickle that little foot!  A portrait of my son, once a week, every week in 2015 Joining in with Jodi a

Heat induced craziness

I'm starting to think that this never-ending heat is sending us all a bit bonkers. Saying silly things, doing dumb stuff. It's not just me, or hubby, but Dylan has gone a little loopy too. Yesterday we are sitting on the floor in the lounge room playing with a few of his toys. He runs around behind me, where I'm expecting him to jump on my back or tickle my feet. He instead pulls out the back waistband of my shorts and says 'mummy poo check'! Crazy kid! I can't remember the weather being so hot and humid day after day quite like this summer. The heat doesn't usually bother me, but this humidity. OMG! It's just energy sapping.  I try to keep up with Dylan and his playtime, but lately I seem to end up sitting down while I get him to splash in his little baby pool, sit at his water table, or run under the sprinklers. I don't even mind so much when he 'accidentally' misses the mark watering the garden with the hose and I get a drenching! One

Here we go again! I'm back for Project 52 again this year.  Fingers crossed I keep up with it.  Such a sense of achievement to make it to the end of the year! So this week has been hot, hot, HOT!  We've been to the beach one day for a swim, and we've set up the little baby pool numerous times.  What else is there to do to keep cool? Run under the sprinkler of course!  What child (who didn't have their own backyard pool) didn't do this?  Dylan loved it!  The squeals of delight said it all really.
