We've been doing some odd jobs around the house over the past week or so.  With a new baby on the way, there's been some reshuffling of "stuff" around the house.  No longer will we have a spare room, so the wardrobes and cupboard space needs to be revamped and reorganised.  We found that the big empty spaces at the tops of our wardrobes just weren't getting used effectively, so Hubby has been on many a trip to Bunnings to buy sheets of melamine and making new shelves.  All this cutting of melamine has been done around Dylan's afternoon naps, and the never ending series of thunderstorms we've had lately, so he usually has a bit of an audience.  Hubby is much more careful these days with regards to his hearing, so he's always wearing his earmuffs doing these noisy tasks.  Of course Dylan just loves to copy us, and luckily one of his Christmas presents this year was the cutest little pair of earmuffs.  So while we were busy working around the house, Dyl

It seems that lately I really am flavour of the month.  Every time he needs help, or wants something, or feels like a drink or some food, or pretty much anything, we hear "Muuuuuuuum??".  Gosh it's tiring!  He wants me to spend more and more time with him, playing games, or cars, or trains or whatever.  I just am starting to worry a little bit that when this baby comes, Dylan will really start to feel left out and a bit ignored.  Encouraging solo play is about all I can do for now.  One afternoon this week in between a million household jobs and organising dinner, Dylan and I spent a little while outside playing together.  Somehow, we both managed to score little remote control cars for Christmas this past year.  With our family knowing us too well, they were both little VW beetles, his a sweet baby blue, and mine an old skool white with flashy wheels.  Dylan isn't exactly fantastic at controlling his car and it seems to spend more time running into things or off th

Earlier this week was just a little bit HOT!  Ok, a LOT! Monday I was struggling getting on the packed train and just walking to and from the station to the office got me all hot and bothered.  I couldn't face it on Tuesday so I worked from home for the day which was a huge relief.  Thursday was a scorcher.  Sometime after midday I checked the temperature and it read a whopping 39 degrees.  I did manage to get Dylan inside in the cool during the heat of the day, but mid-morning he wanted to be out and in his little paddling pool.   He jumped around the pool, splashing me (I certainly didn't mind!), and then just lay back having a kick.  We ended up with the sprinkler on too to top up the water and just make it even more fun.  I can certainly handle these kinds of summery fun days, but maybe not quite so hot ones next time thanks! After days and days of horrible dreary rain this week we were so glad to get out into the garden.  Dylan had been having a little playdate with his friend in next door's backyard but came home on the offer of some lunch.  He was all ready to eat until he heard the banging and drilling coming from somewhere around the house.  Hubby was under the house adding a new cable in as we are going to get some new air con units installed.  Dylan liked the sound of going under the house, so we went to investigate.  We found the opening to going under the house, but we decided there might be spiders or something horrible under there so we held back.  Suddenly I noticed some movement right near us which gained our attention.  I went and grabbed my camera and captured the worried looks of my little man. Here we go again!  I'm going to try and keep up with the posts this year.  I've managed it for the past 2 years, but with a new bub due in March I'm not confident I'll be able to keep it up during the newborn haze.  Only time will tell I suppose. This week has been punctuated with broken sleep, not enough naps, and too many late nights watching rubbish movies on Netflix.  The Netflix part is totally my own fault, but it's nice to just sit down and relax with something mindless after the dinner/bath/bed routine with Dylan.  Tonight we allowed Dylan to watch part of a movie that was not too far off finishing.  Earlier today he came home from his grandparents a total cranky-pants, refusing lunch then slept for hours and hours.  So I'm not at all surprised he wasn't ready for bed tonight.  We chilled out on the lounge watching a movie I remember from my childhood.  Spaceships and aliens kept him completely fixated until an ad came on and I threatened to tickle
