Week 43

I think I'm going to have to call this "a week of firsts".  Its our second week being away from home and Dylan has just loved it.  So much has happened and I don't want to forget all the special moments.

The portacot we brought with us has been useless as he hates being so restricted, so he's gotten used to a single bed mattress on the floor.  It's close enough to a "big boy" bed!

A couple of the places we stayed had the big built-in trampolines.  Dylan's new favourite words are "jump-jump"!  He had a fantastic time and just giggled at every bounce.

We visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and he loved patting the kangaroo's. Soon enough he was saying "Roo" as best as he could!

We bought a box of iceblocks and let him go nuts with one.  It was everywhere, but he loved every wet lick!

We stopped by the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour as Dylan's favourite fruit would have to be bananas.  He had never seen a "narny" so big!

Everywhere we stayed we took Dylan in the pool to get him used to the water.  He really started to love the splashing around, blowing bubbles, and jumping in and out of the water!

We took Dylan's little trike with us so he could ride around the paths and quiet roads nearby to where we stayed.  Low and behold he FINALLY learnt to steer the jolly thing! No more sitting idly as we pushed him along, he worked out that if he wanted to aim in a certain direction he could make it go there! What an achievement! We may have done some doughnuts to celebrate!

Australia Zoo brought lots of firsts too.  We saw numerous crocodiles which scared the bejesus out of me.  Sure enough after the first few Dylan learnt to say "croc" whenever he saw one.  They also had a little farm animal area where you could see and pat a few animals.  Dylan was super excited to meet "Peppa Pig"!

Lastly I'd have to add Dylan's first ride.  Australia Zoo had a little kids ride which was like the Disneyland "teacups", except this was more "Steve Irwin style". Too cute.

The entire trip has been a great learning experience for Dylan, and also an awakening for my hubby and I of what to expect, and what NOT to expect on holidays with a toddler.

There's no way I can limit this to one photo this week!!  But this one shows the sheer joy of one of these firsts.

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week in 2014
Joining in with Jodi and Project 52.

And now for a few of the other firsts that I just couldn't resist!
